fake news
  • false information used to shape your views, opinions or ideas.
  • the information is often exaggerated, heavily biased or simply not true
  • it is often intentionally misleading
  • it can also be known as propaganda

when did fake news start?

  • fake news (or propaganda)has been around for thousands of years
  • the romans would spread lies about their enemies to make their own people scared and easier to control

what is the purpose of fake news:
  • a lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes - Mark Twain 
  • is used to divid and conquer
  • used to split people into groups
  • it is used to stop people trusting the media 
  • used to target, victimise, and bully certain groups. 
  • it is used to control and manipulate people 
where can you find fake news?:
  • you can find it on TV, newspapers, radio, posters, magazines, public speeches
  • the biggest problem today, is found on social media.

who is to blame for fake news?:

  • there are many people to blame for fake news:
  • Donald trump
  • media outlets
  • hackers and internet trolls
  • the general public
  • social media like facebook etc.
